Public School Administrators Support Barrera for Superintendent

“A Clean Sweep of the Education Sector for Barrera”

(San Diego) The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the United States, has endorsed Democrat Richard Barrera to be the next California Superintendent of Public Instruction. ACSA unites more than 18,000 members of school management teams – from school principals to district superintendents – to advocate with legislators and policy makers on the future of education.

With ACSA’s endorsement, Barrera has made a clean sweep of support from every sector of the education community, including the California Teachers Association (CTA), California Federation of Teachers (CFT), California School Employees Association (CSEA), California Charter School Advocates, and numerous individual teachers, principals, superintendents, and school board members from throughout the state.

“Students in California’s public schools represent the promise and future of our state, and they deserve a leader who believes deeply in their potential,” said Dr. Rene Rickard, ACSA President. “Richard Barrera has spent his career working to expand opportunity and help students succeed. ACSA is proud to endorse Richard Barrera because he brings the experience and commitment needed to strengthen public education throughout California.”

“ACSA members are the captains of our public education community,” says Barrera. “As a school board member in San Diego for almost 20 years, I have had the opportunity to partner with these committed administrators to craft initiatives and solutions to the challenges school districts face. I look forward to sharing the strategies that worked in San Diego that took us from a struggling district to one that ranks first nationally in reading and math among large urban school districts, as well as highlighting the experience and advice of school management teams from throughout the state. I am honored and excited by ACSA’s support of my bid to be Superintendent of Public Instruction.”

Barrera is also endorsed by the California Democratic Party. He outpaced a large field of other Democratic candidates in the June primary to advance to November’s general election. A complete list of those endorsing can be found at https://www.barreraforedu.com/641677865886 .
