Barrera Minute 13 - How You Can Help!
California’s Primary is only about eight weeks away. Mail ballots will begin to go out the first week of May. Many of you have asked how you can help us win on June 2. The most important thing you can do is to help me spread the word. Here are a few simple ideas for doing that:
TELL A FRIEND. In the infamous words of former House Speaker Tip O’Neill, "All politics is local." When it comes to persuading voters, very few things are as powerful as a personal endorsement from a friend, especially in a crowded field of candidates for a down-ballot office that many know little about. Please send a personal email to your California voter friends telling them why you support me and encouraging them to vote.
People who are not registered have until May 18 to register online or with their County Registrar of Voters. Those turning 18 between now and the deadline can pre-register and vote once their birthday happens. Anyone who misses the deadline can register on Election Day right at their polling place and receive a conditional ballot, which will be counted once their eligibility is verified.
Despite news headlines about Trump and his allies trying to eliminate mail voting, there has been no change in California. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by June 9. These ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or your county elections office.
